Readers' Reviews |
"I grew up on Dale Carnegie, Tony Robbins and John Naisbitt - but none of them have pointed to the methods and skills needed to succeed in today's ever-accelerating Internet economy. John Naisbitt called it "high tech, high touch" but never told us exactly how to deal with this apparent conflict. In PowerSkills, Jim Masciarelli has captured a simple, practical set of guidelines for focusing on what matters most - those day-to-day and year-to-year relationships that we all take for granted." |

"Products deteriorate before our eyes. Relationships endure. I'm reminded of Andrew Gedes quotation "one doesn't discover new lands without losing sight of the shore." Your book took me away from the shore to explore what really matters - relationships - and what I can do to improve." |

The advice in PowerSkills applies to all of the fields that I have been in: computing, mutual funds, electronic distribution, medical and institutional investment. A great book." |

"A first rate book on skills that are critical to success and yet seldom paid attention to in developmental efforts. Your style is easily read and understood and offers a sense of inspiration and encouragement to the reader to take the steps necessary to improve." |

"While Relationship Management has become the buzz word of the new millenium, until now there has been no definitive book on how to grow and cultivate relationships. My hat's off to Jim Masciarelli, he's created the perfect resource for us! PowerSkills contains some of the best coaching materials (for developing and nurturing relationships) I've ever seen. If you believe in relationship building, you'll find his book a treasure chest of information!" |

Tons of practical ideas to implement right now
Jim Masciarelli's book is great for those who are looking to improve the quality of their professional relationships. Not surprisingly, his advice spills over into personal relationships as well. I particularly like his ideas on cultivating and sustaining a "Nifty 50" - the fifty most important professional relationships in your life.
Great System for Measuring Progress
The thing I liked most about this book is that it provides an excellent system for measuring your networking success. It shows how to maintain a list of your Nifty Fifty contacts and measure it to show the strength of your network. This allows you to set goals like "Increase my networking score by 10% by May 31." You could also use it to measure the success of people on your team.
Required for top-level networking
While this book formalizes networking necessary for power brokers and business growth at high levels, it also spells out the type and frequency of contacts any business person can begin to cultivate. If you have an idea you want to be at the top someday -- start here.
New business skills for a new age
Move over Tom Peters, there's a new soothsayer in town! The new search for excellence is about leveraging the touch points that businesses and individuals have with their constituencies. The guiding principals of Powerskills, sprinkled with the sometimes amusing support of real-life stories, chart a compelling model for an efficient and effective way of conducting business. James Masciarelli is onto something new and exciting with this publication. Take it on your next business trip or vacation, and return anxious to put it to work.
A Great "How To" Guide for Business Relationships
This book is a great 'how-to' guide for selecting, building and harvesting business relationships. And in business, of course, relationships are everything.
I think PowerSkills is a must-read for every business person - from the recent graduate just starting out, to the seasoned executive who wants to move his or her skills to the next level.
Jim Masciarelli is a terrific teacher, and underscores his points with insightful anecdotes from his career.
One additional perspective - great relationships - like success in business - take time and commitment. But your hard work - guided by this excellent book - will be a dynamite combination.
An essential tool
Powerskills is an essential tool for anyone involved in building a team of A players. Jim Masciarelli has put together a concise and accurate roadmap for building and maintaining an organization that can win in today's competitive world. Time is an entrepreneur's most valuable asset, invest it here.
